Vol. 1 No. 3 — A counter-intuitive lesson.
*This is the third issue of a previous iteration of this newsletter. It was called Heart Stuff & Coffee. I’m adding all previous issues here to be part of the archive.
It's Holiday season!! One of my favorite times of the year (aside from Fall, of course 🍂). But before I get into all that, I have something to share with you: I’ve learned (or, I could say I was reminded of) a very valuable and counter-intuitive lesson recently and I just want to tell you about it.
I don't know if you're anything like me but I tend to want to understand everything. I'm an overthinker and overanalyzer. So, if you've ever wondered why you (or others) say, think, and do the things you do then you're definitely not alone. In fact, the world tells us in order to let go of something or heal it we need to get to the root of it and dwell on it.
On the contrary, the Bible says "Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things." (Philippians 4:8)
And also, "But one thing I do: forgetting what lies behind and straining forward to what lies ahead.." (Philippians 3:13) We must fix our eyes on Jesus and abide in Him, not on what's wrong or broken. Jesus is the answer and the only One who can fix any of it!
