Vol. 1 No. 4 — On redeeming productivity.
*This is the fourth issue of a previous iteration of this newsletter. It was called Heart Stuff & Coffee. I’m adding all previous issues here to be part of the archive.
Happy New Year!!
I know, everyone is saying it and I may be a little late to the game, but I can hardly believe its 2024 and much less that we’re halfway through January already!! How are you doing? What’s new?
Something that’s been on my heart since the end of 2023 is yearning to and learning to use my time wisely for the glory of God. More than a mindset shift, there’s a heart change that needs to happen and I’ve been praying that God would bring about that transformation in me. Last month, I came across Reagan Rose and his online ministry “Redeeming Productivity” and let me just say it came around at just the right time. (The beginning of the year rolls around and everyone wants to be more productive right? 😂). Reagan reminded me that I am not my own (I have been bought with a price: the precious blood of Christ) and my life is not my own. We are all here on earth for one main purpose: to glorify God.
Colossians 3:23 ESV says: “Whatever you do, work heartily, as for the Lord and not for men.” I like what the Amplified Bible version says: “Whatever you do [whatever your task may be], work from the soul [that is, put in your very best effort], as [something done] for the Lord and not for men.” Additionally, the KJV translates heartily as “soul, life, mind, heart.” So, as a child of God and a servant of Christ, I must put my life, heart, mind, and soul into all that I do so that it will bring God glory and point others to Him! If you’re anything like me this will seem like a mighty tall order. Maybe even overwhelming. OK, definitely a bit overwhelming. BUT GOD gives more grace and gives strength to those who seek Him and wish to obey Him. He is my helper. Your helper.
I also came across Jordan Raynor’s book Redeeming Your Time. (Notice a pattern here?!) So, I read the book and I’ve been imperfectly doing my best to implement the principles and practices in the book. It is full of practical, easy-to-follow advice and needless to say, I highly recommend it if you’re interested in time management or doing more for God’s glory.
Lastly, I’m happy to say I’m finally being consistent with content on social media and finally asking God when I sit down to create to guide me in sharing what HE wants me to share. I also have some ideas for digital products I’m excited about and want to start working on soon. Feel free to keep me accountable!! Haha.
What about you, friend? Is there something you’ve putting off for too long, or a mindset or heart change that needs to happen for you, too? Reply to this email and let me know! I’d love to hear from you.
