Yearning for Sunny, Blue Skies
My kitchen lies in disarray, I’m cold and tired, there’s a wall of grey cloud threatening to close in, and all I want to do is eat chocolate and ice cream and nap on the couch with my cats.
I’ve been feeling like this lately. I know spring is coming and I’ll shake off the funk. But for now….well. I’m reminiscing about sunnier days.
So I thought I’d share some thoughts I wrote down while I caught a little bit of sunshine on the balcony a couple weeks ago.
So easy to imagine when the sun hits my face that I am elsewhere and life is something else entirely Everything is transformed in an instant when caught by a ray of sunshine I can imagine the sound of rustling leaves as ocean waves lazily lapping the shore Suddenly grass and concrete are taken over by pale soft sand A crow is not a crow, but a seagull looking for its next meal Palm trees cover the landscape And the sea… the sea glimmers across the horizon Sunlight kisses the skin, as an invitation to take my time It says, “come, I’ll wrap you in a warm daydream” Sometimes it’s easy to imagine the sun shining just for me As if God were directing the sun’s rays straight at me like a father covering his child and I am at rest
